Cowes-based national maritime charity UKSA has just announced it has been pledged a generous $1.9 million donation, which will enable the youth charity to progress plans to enhance and expand facilities with the building of a new accommodation centre.
The gift is the largest single amount ever received by UKSA since the waterfront campus opened its doors in 1987. The donation has been made by The TK Foundation, a Bahamas based foundation that supports non-profit and youth programmes across the globe.
This is a significant point in the history of UKSA. The TK Foundation actively supports youth and maritime programmes that offer a hand up, not a handout, and that create a lasting impact, especially in terms of maritime employment opportunities. The TK Foundation considers UKSA’s work to be an embodiment of these values.
The UKSA site will remain fully operational throughout the development works, with building work due to commence in the latter part of 2020 and completion of the works planned for mid-2022.
