Don't drink and go boating

16 December 2019
Whilst motorists are warned at this time of year “not to take the risk, it’s not worth it” in festive drink and drug-drive campaigns, the Department for Transport also warns about the risks of drinking afloat and the message is clear – “don’t mix alcohol and boating”

The way alcohol affects people depends on a number of factors, and if you’re in charge of a vessel, it’s better to “have none for the voyage home”

Cowes Harbour General Direction 3.6. ‘Navigating whilst under influence of Drink or Drugs’ contains the local rule on alcohol and boating, which is: “no person shall navigate or attempt to navigate a vessel when unfit by reason of drink or drugs”
