LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS No 05(T) of 2017Dredging Operations in Cowes Harbour and Associated Barge Movements

Notice is hereby given that works/dredge licences have been issued for dredging to commence at Kingston Marine Services hoist dock, Thetis Wharf, Shepards Wharf Marina, Town Quay and the Royal Yacht Squadron basin from 06th February 2017.
The internal pontoons at Shepards Wharf Marina will be removed. The fixed green navigation lights, on the outer pontoons, will be unaffected by the works. Where pontoons have been removed, piles will temporarily be marked with a yellow flashing light which will remain in place until the pontoons are reinstated.
The dredging operations will be carried out the dredge pontoon Doreen Dorward, with the spoil being deposited into two split hopper barges Nab and Needles. The Nab and Needles will regularly transit the fairway (inbound and outbound). Vessels navigating in the vicinity shall do so with particular caution and maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 69 for broadcasts communicating their movements.

The dredging is expected to be completed by 24th February 2017; this notice will expire upon completion of the dredging operations and reinstatement of the pontoons.
